West Comes South as Samford Signs G Isaiah West
Bucky McMillan and staff have been putting in the work now announcing the signing of former Vanderbilt G Isaiah West. The 6’2” 190-pound combo guard started 9 games for the Commodores last season. West comes to Homewood with three years of eligibility remaining.
West shot 43% from the field while shooting 33% (10-33) from three. He had a season-high in scoring of 12 points against Central Arkansas and Missouri. He has plenty of potential and will be able to show it at Samford. West also dealt with a foot injury throughout a portion of last year.
The former 4-star recruit by ESPN and 3-star by Rivals/247 Sports was ranked by all outlets as the second best rated recruit in the state of Tennessee.
In limited action, West shows the ability to do everything that Samford will ask him to do. He can create his own shot while being able to knock down outside shots. At 6’2”, he shows that he is not afraid to attack the rim and fight through contact.
With three years of eligibility remaining, West has the chance to grow old with Samford’s 2023 freshman class which would be great for this program.
